2011 Showcase Loft Contest Winner . . . Make That WINNERS

AU members were invited to vote for their favorite loft in the 2011 Showcase Loft contest. Two of the entries received the highest votes and tied for the top spot.

Christian Buzila, out of Lawrenceville, Georgia, submitted interior, exterior and plan images of his 10 X 45 foot loft. The plan indicates the measurements of each Old Bird and Young Bird section and aviary. Christian has been a member since 2005 and races with the Greater Atlanta RPC.

Michael Perez just joined the sport recently and races with the Texas Invitational RPC. Michael submitted his young bird loft. It is 6 X 12 and has two sections. His loft provides good ventilation, with a grated floor, a slatted ceiling inside the loft and in the aviary and along the back of the loft. He also installed ventilation on the roof. The loft is designed so that while waiting for the race birds to arrive, the remaining birds can be in the aviary for fresh air. The loft is a work-in-progress with plans to install a bird loading door for the birds to walk into the training basket on the outside.

Each of the winning lofts is attractive and very well kept, which reflects wonderfully on the hobby and racing members.

Congratulations to both winners for presenting a fantastic impression of bird care for the public to see.

Winners will receive limited edition prints in the AU Convention Series by Artist Jim Brown, along with a winner’s plaque.

Thank you to all the participants for demonstrating the quality of care AU members provide for their birds. You reflect the sport well.
