AU’s 2008 Showcase Loft Contest Winners – It’s A
Tie!
Two AU members tied for 1st place in the annual
AU Showcase Loft Contest. Each year AU members are invited to
submit photographs, plans and descriptions of their lofts to the
Showcase Loft Contest. The lofts help the public understand what
is necessary for a race team setting. It is also fun for members
of the sport to compare designs.
Winners were selected via on-line voting through the American
Racing Pigeon Union web site.
This year, two entries tied. Rick Barker, out of Temecula,
California, who is long-time member of the AU and part of the
Valleys Invitational Club. Norm Smith is also a long-time member
of the AU and races with the Chattanooga Club. He lives in
Dayton, Tennessee.
“It is very challenging to pick the winner out of so many
excellent entries,” shared AU Executive Director, Karen
Clifton. “It was last year that we started the on-line voting
to see what fanciers and the public would select as their
favorites. The entries are attractive and demonstrate to the
public and newcomers what healthy housing looks like.”
The winners will each receive a limited edition print in the AU
Convention Series by artist Jim Brown, and a plaque proclaiming
their win.
Thank you to all participants for the great entries. All of them
showed the quality of care AU members provide for their birds,
reflecting well on the sport!
