AMARILLO, TEXAS – Amarillo Globe News featured the Amarillo Racing Pigeon Club.

Club members did a good job sharing information about the sport. While preparing their roughly 250 birds on shipping night, they discussed the special feeding necessary for the 300-mile race.

Members come from a variety of backgrounds and live throughout the Panhandle. They host 20 races a year at varying distances. Dennis Falk, the president of FirstBank Southwest, was one of the founding members who started the club in 1961. A picture of the founding members includes Falk, then 15, and still hangs on the clubhouse wall.
"That was a long time ago," the 60-year-old said. "I just never got over the sport."
Member Bob Muscianese, 71, jokes that he was born in a pigeon loft in New York. "It gets into your blood," he said. "They're probably the greatest athletes in the world."
It's not about money for the Amarillo men. It's about the bragging rights. "I beat them every week," Lacy said. "We have a lot of fun, right or wrong."

The club included contact information in the article. A man from Kansas who happened to be passing through Amarillo, noticed the article in the paper. He contacted the club and was referred to the AU for more information about Kansas clubs. He quickly connected with the closest club to him.
Excellent work Amarillo RPC!
