SPORT PROMOTION
CONTEST WINNER ANNOUNCED!
For the sixth year, the AU proclaimed
April to be National Pigeon Awareness
Month. AU members were invited to
compete for the honor of recognition for
most sport promotion presentations
during a month-long contest.
The contest ended April 30. Members were
asked to send a summary of their
presentations to the AU. Entries were
reviewed and a winner was selected.
American Racing Pigeon Union is pleased
to announce that this year’s winner of
the April Pigeon Awareness Promotion
Contest is Gary Carns in Pennsylvania.
Since he attended an AU Zone Meeting two
years ago in Pennsylvania, Gary has
looked for opportunities to promote the
racing sport. Most recently he spoke to
Cub Scouts and also released 160 birds
at the annual area Special Olympic
Games. The release was covered by local
television news.
Since Gary became acquainted with the
materials from the AU, he has made
steady use of them. He also stays in
touch with the AU office for any new
items he can utilize.
As the winner of this year’s contest,
Gary will receive an AU embroidered polo
and an AU gift certificate valued at $25
toward any item sold through the AU.
