AU ANNOUNCES APRIL national pigeon awareness month
By Deone Roberts, AU Sport Development
Sharing the sport is fun!
This is the fourth year for the American Racing Pigeon Union to declare the month of April as National Pigeon Awareness Month!
It’s a fun way for AU members to compete with each other in a contest of sport promotion. The member or club that conducts the most promotion activities during the month of April receives national recognition and a gift certificate.
Past winner Genie McGee said, “I can’t help but share information about my pigeons. I have a blast doing it. People are fascinated hearing about these amazing birds.”
AU members are invited to compete for recognition of most sport promotional presentations during the month-long contest. Presentations can be in any variety of locations or groups: libraries, schools, civic clubs, youth groups, other hobby clubs, etc. The individual or club can make the presentation as simple or as elaborate as they would like. To enhance events, the AU has materials and information to help.
It’s so easy!
“Our continued member growth is in large part due to member participation. We value all AU members and appreciate their efforts to share the sport,” said Frank Greenhall, AU President.
The contest will begin April 1, 2005 and end April 30, 2005. For information, call the AU office at 405-848-5801 or send an email to
