Local Library Hosts Display
The American Racing Pigeon Union made a return visit the Village Library in Oklahoma City in the form of a month-long window display, offering printed information and visual aids about the racing pigeon sport. To highlight the display, AU member and local expert, Steve Mardis, also offered a presentation to get people better acquainted with the birds in person.
Steve fielded several questions and visitors left with a better understanding of how to care for pigeons and how the races are conducted.

Public libraries are a great source for people to obtain more information about racing Homing Pigeons. If your local library doesn't already have information, consider donating a video such as "Marathon In The Sky" or a book such as "Pigeon City." Many clubs are donating these materials in the name of the club. It is good promotion and it is good education.
Often libraries look to the public to provide displays. A display may be as simple or elaborate as you like. Items such as diplomas, a clock, extra bands and awards make a nice presentation that is certain to generate questions and interest. Don't forget to call on your national AU office for literature and attractive brochures for your display. |
