young bird races (different dates). At least one of the races must be
250 miles or more. The mileage of the races must total 1000 miles or
more. The clockings in the five (5) races must average in the top 10% or
better.
YEARLING: The pigeon must clock in the top 20% of eight (8) races during
its Youngbird and its Yearling seasons. At least one race must be 400
miles or more. The total mileage of the races must total 1800 airline
miles or more. A minimum of three races are required from each series.
The clockings in the eight races must average in the top 10% or better.
3. The score for each race performance is calculated by dividing the
bird’s position in a race by the total number of birds entered in the
race and converting the result into a percentage. These percentages are
then averaged over the number of optimized, required, qualifying races
to determine the final score to be used for ranking the performances.
Birds are then ranked in the order of increasing scores.
4. Races at all organizational levels of competition, including
specials, are eligible for AU Hall of Fame consideration. The NDB
program will automatically select the bird’s best score from among the
various competition levels for each day’s race. The qualifying races
used that meet the distance requirements will be selected from the
entire two-year performance record in order to optimize the bird’s
final score.
5. The National Data Base web site shall show four national listings
based on competition levels, one overall listing and three segregated
according to the number of birds in competition. In addition listings by
individual AU zone and state shall be provided on the National Data Base
web site. The bird number categories are 1) Overall, 2) number of birds
per race is 100 birds or less, 3) & 4) actual cutoffs to be
determined and chosen so the number of total lofts in each of categories
3 & 4 is equal.
6. Qualifying birds must be banded in accordance with AU Race Rule 7.09.
Upload deadline to the NDB is February 1st for Young Birds and August
1st for Old Birds.
