2007 AU Junior Membership Contest
All the entries for 2007 Junior Membership Contest illustrated
the excellence in our youth.
Tony Szymanek, out of Garden Grove, California, is the big
winner in the annual contest. Normally Tony competes for fastest
bird speed. This contest; however, was up to Tony himself and
what he had to say about the amazing heritage of his racing
Homing Pigeons.
Tony has been racing with the American Racing Pigeon Union and
the Orange County Flyers for four years. As the winner, he had
an extraordinary experience at the 2007 AU Convention in
Detroit. Tony not only won the membership contest, but he also
won the 2006 AU National Youth Race. As the previous year’s
race winner, AU hosted his attendance at the 2007 convention.
During the banquet, Tony was recognized for his 2006 race win.
Then he was presented with his prize for the 2007 National Youth
Contest – an electronic clocking system as a gift of
Siegel’s Pigeon Supply and Ed Minvielle, representing Benzing.
But it did not end there. Tony also benefited from the National
Ladies Auxiliary auction at the banquet. Past AU President,
Frank Greenhall, served as auctioneer. When he placed the
winning bid on a bird from Crazy Al, Frank turned to Tony and
gave the bird to him.
Congratulations Tony on your big night!
